The Practicalities – What you Need to Know!

An Enlightenment Intensive (EI) is a formal retreat based around a simple contemplation technique, a rigourous schedule, and a set of agreements.

The Technique

The EI technique is a combination of contemplation and communication taking place mostly in Dyads. The technique is taught on the first morning and frequently refreshed throughout the EI.
In dyads the participants work in pairs, taking turns to contemplate and communicate, and to support eachother in receptive non-judgemental silence. The depth of contact and presence cultivated in this technique is itself a rare magic.

We regret that the intense nature of this schedule means that it is not suitable for people with serious mental health issues, a history of schizophrenia or similar episodes.

If you are taking prescribed medication please discuss this with Shivam before booking.

The Agreements

In order to free up your attention to be fully available for contemplation of The Real in this moment, we ask that you make a commitment to upholding the following agreements for the duration of the EI. There is no judgement attached to any of these activites during your everyday life, it is simply that practically they can and do distract from dedicating yourself entirely to The Enquiry.

Please agree to put aside the following for the duration of the Enlightenment Intensive:

Tobacco, Alcohol, Caffeine, and any other consciousness affecting substances, including extra food.

(It is wise to wean yourself off caffeine, nicotine and sugar before the EI to avoid suffering withdrawal headaches while you are contemplating)

Mobile phones, ipads, cameras, watches and any other devices.

Reading and Writing.

Mirrors, Make Up, Shaving, Jewellery and anything else focussing on physical appearance.

Gossiping, Chatting, Hugging and anything else aimed at developing social relationships.

Acting out on sexual energy. Couples will be asked to sleep apart.

These Agreements help to create a rare and precious environment where freedom to enter the moment fully as you are is the primary concern.
